Site Reliability Engineer

The role

A pragmatic SRE to manage the infrastructure that powers our ERP, APIs, customer platforms and websites. You'll take ownership of uptime, automate deployments, and ensure everything just works: fast, secure and scalable.

This is a foundational role for someone who loves building resilience into real-world systems.

What you'll get to do

You'll own observability, deployment, and platform engineering. You'll build the playbooks, dashboards and on-call practice that let us scale from thousands to millions of customers without rebuilding the platform every six months.

Responsibilities

• Designing and operating our cloud infrastructure (containerised services, databases, storage, networking).
• Owning deployment pipelines: build, test, ship, roll back.
• Setting up and tuning observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerts.
• Defining SLOs/SLIs and running blameless post-mortems.
• Hardening security: secret management, network segmentation, vulnerability management.
• Working with engineering on capacity planning, performance tuning and incident response.

Our requirements include

Technical skills in:

• Linux (Ubuntu) at the system level
• Kubernetes / container orchestration
• Terraform or equivalent IaC
• AWS or Google Cloud
• Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
• PostgreSQL operations

Must be able to:

• Stay calm during production incidents.
• Document systems clearly so the team can self-serve.
• Push back on unnecessary complexity.

Knowledge & experience:

• 5+ years in SRE, DevOps or platform engineering
• Experience running a 24/7 production system
• Strong scripting skills (Python or Go)

Prerequisites:

• South African work authorisation
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
